BTC WOW Ride to Chunchi Falls

Chunchi Falls was one of the places which I had been waiting to visit since long. And on seeing the event scheduled by Ritu, was more than excited to join the BTC WOW group on a ride to this exquisite place.

Chunchi falls formed by river Arkavathi and its tributaries [Kumudavathi, Suvarnamukhi and Vrushbhavathi] rolls down the Chunchi hills in the Chunchi village to join river Cauvery at Sangama.

Located at a distance of 93 Kms from Bangalore [MG Road] en-route to Mekedatu, this is a perfect weekend getaway. The Team consisting of Rajalakshmi, Ritu, Shwetha B Nagaral, Veena Arun, Subha, Isha Bhartiya, Sharanya Vishwanath, Sonali, Vidya, Deepika and myself met up at the Sarakki signal for a brief introduction before the ride. As the team set out for destination Chunchi – we witnessed soothing breeze and cool climate assisting us in making the ride a mesmerizing one.
Meanwhile stopped by for a photo-shoot on Kanakpura Main Road near Netagere Village, after a little chit-chat we got back to our bikes to continue through the lush green paths of Kanakpura road. Hungry tummy craving for yummy food, we were signalled to stop by at a restaurant for mouth watering masala dosa along with a hot cup of coffee/chai. The rain seemed to play hide and seek while we got back to the road. Though our GPS took us in the right direction yet at the Sathanur-Sangama junction we lost track and continued towards Sangama- Muthathi road causing a diversion of 25kms, the localites suggested us to visit Muthathi, but we being desperate for a glimpse of Chunchi, continued to drive along the clean, beautiful small villages leading to Chunchi.
Finally arrived at our destination for the day; “Way To Chunchi” [read the arch]. Riding approximately 5kms on muddy road from the arch we reached Chunchi falls, parked our vehicles beneath few trees [parking fee Rs.10 per vehicle].With no signs of falls around was wondering where the falls is hidden??? There were some local people who volunteer to be a guide but nevertheless we refused to take them, as the place was quite familiar for some of us in the team. Slowly and cautiously we trekked down the slippery rocks to capture the view of the most awaited Chunchi falls. It was a small stream hidden between the rocks with a small pool at the bottom. Splendid and refreshing was our experience at this pool formed by the hidden falls. Relaxing at the pool and munching on snacks brought by Shuba we slowly crawled up to move to the next water fall a Km away. This one was a feast to our eyes, gushing and roaring like a jet, was creating a serene space to relax and sleep on the rocks. We were fortunate enough that the crowd was relatively less during our stay at the falls, which gave us ample of time to enjoy the beauty of nature. It was time to head back and we started to climb the rocky terrain, while Shwetha on the way decided to pick out the plastic garbage ,we all assisted her; making it one small clean drive as well. On the way back we had good lunch at MG road Kanakpura and dispersed after the feedback session.
Loads of pictures clicked, new acquaintances made, discussions about adventure and trekking done - Chunchi did not only make a great ride but was one of the best visits to be cherished in the long-run. Thanks for the wonderful bunch of gals!!! Looking forward for many more events  !!!
