Children's Trek to RamadevraBetta: 22.10.2016

“It’s that time of the year again when you get an itch in your feet to run somewhere away from your desk”.

The children’s trek to Ramadevara Betta, Tumkur on October 22 ,2016 Saturday was an awesome one. The children’s group accompanied by their Parents made a complete batch. The group along with organizers Ankit and Rajalakshmi was very supportive.
We started the journey travelling by train to the place, where we had lot of interactions with each other. The approach to this hill was through the famous Siddaganga Math. We reached the top of the hill and saw huge rocks with views of the surrounding towns including Tumkur.

As we got down from the hill, the banyan tree was eye catching. We climbed the tree remembering our ancestors..
Looking forward to have more treks like this one..

Thank u BTC

I had been waiting for a trek along with kids for a long time. As soon as I saw a mail, called my friend Vidya and soon we decided to register. We were praying our name gets short listed. Finally we would be going to the trek along with the kids on 22nd Oct. All excited 😃 Informed hubby we would be going for trek and it's his turn to take care of the lil one back home 😋😋..
The Day started early as the sleep had taken a back seat due to the excitement. Took a bus from home to reach the railway station and my son was eagerly looking forward to the fun filled day. Reporting time was 7:00, we were just in time. Meet Raji, Ankit "KID" Maheswari 😉 and  fellow trekkers. In no time we had breakfast and people took parcels and we were off to the platform to board the train. Once inside the train we started knowing the people in our group. Train left by 7:45. We were 18 of us, 5 mommies along with 6 kids, a brother-sister duo, and the rest (Including the child organizer, Ankit). The confusion began when the train went to Yeshwantpur: weren't we suppose to go to Ramanagara to Ramadevarabetta?? 😋😉 Later we were told there was a small mixe up and we are going to Ramadevarabetta near Tumkur. Anyways, We were here to enjoy so place wouldn't matter. 😃😃 Soon there was the self introduction to know each other.
On arrival at the station, The trek began with a brief information. Initially we had a nice concrete path and a pond near a big banyan tree cool n shady. Once we started to ascend the path started to elevate. Kids were leading us upfront along with Aditi & Sagar. The rest mommies had Ankit, Rajji and Aman for company. Special mention about  Radha aunt's spirit to climb the peak.
The best part about the BTC treks is that each organiser and even fellow trekkers ensure every person makes it to the peak at their own pace. They are always there to help you, wait until you are ok and then start. We reached the top by noon and soon the tiredness was long forgotten. It was time to pose for the photo. We had lunch and that was followed by another photo session.
We started to descend by 1:30 and by 2:15 we reached the banyan tree and had plenty time for the kids to climb the tree and enjoy. We relaxed in the cool shade and discussed about the trek and involving kids to trek and bringing them close to nature. Once relaxed we had sugarcane juice and completed the feedback session. Started our journey towards railway station and boarded the train by 4:00 PM. Everyone got a seat and settled down. Soon it was time to say Good bye until we met next. We got down at Yeshwantpur and the rest gang at Majestic. A day well spent with total strangers who became good friends.😀😉
