Now you must be wondering about the meaning of the title, this is a quote for nature in Bhutan’s local language and before you raise a question, why Bhutan? , I would like to throw some light on the fact that it is the only carbon negative country in the world i.e. it consumes more carbon than it emits. You know what the greatest threat to our environment is, its belief that someone else is going to save it but let me tell you nothing will happen unless you stand up and go out there and save the nature.

Now there are some people who have not only come out to save the nature but also they are working to make nature more beautiful, this event on 15th of January 2017 was one of the many initiatives for Greener Bangalore by BTC (Bangalore trekking club) in collaboration with Saytrees. A maintenance drive for already planted saplings right next to Nayandahalli Railway Station on Mysore Road.

On that day we went to the venue and saw that there were around 30 people already waiting for us, and to my surprise there were parents who came with their kids, isn’t it awesome to let kids spend quality time with nature?

First we started to loosen the soil and removed all weeds around the plant very carefully to nurture it, then we poured some leaves around the roots of plant to avoid evaporation of water and then added water through long human chains!

I was amazed to see that everything was so perfectly organised by Saytrees that they even came with hand gloves for protection while pulling leaves from the bag, and not to mention first aid kit if unfortunately anyone gets hurt.

BTC members at the drive
Everything was well thought of and arranged starting from providing location to even getting some bananas although they didn't have to considering it's volunteer work.

The whole gang with Saytrees minus the ones who left after 2 hours of hardwork :)
So before I windup, I sincerely request you to volunteer in next social event by BTC and would love to see someone helping improve nature in any way we can. See you next time.
